Beaches and relaxation

A tighter match. Mexico lines up the turquoise waters of the Caribbean — Riviera Maya, Tulum, Holbox, Cozumel — with postcard white sand and highly developed seaside infrastructure. Ideal for a stay where the beach plays the leading role.

Costa Rica offers two very different ocean fronts: the Pacific (Guanacaste, Nicoya, Manuel Antonio) with its sunsets and surf, and the Caribbean coast (Puerto Viejo, Cahuita), wilder and Afro-Caribbean.
