An Essential Day is...

A rhythm designed to embrace that of Costa Rica—not the other way around.

In Costa Rica, the sun rises early and sets early—all year round, at nearly the same time. The wildlife, meanwhile, is active at dawn and in the late afternoon. And the heat sets in from 11 AM to 2 PM.

The Essential rhythm wasn't invented by marketing; it's dictated by the very nature of the country. We wake up with the toucans, start activities when the jungle awakens, take our time when the heat sets in, and head out again when the light softens. The day ends with the concert of crickets and the Milky Way above the lodges. It's Costa Rica that sets the rhythm. We follow along.

🌅 Upon waking

Toucans whistle. Fog caresses the canopy. Warm coffee on the terrace, the smell of fresh bread, the birds wake up before you.

🍳 Breakfast

Gallo Pinto (Traditional rice and beans), seasonal fruits, fresh tortillas, Costa Rican coffee. A breakfast that holds you over until noon.

🥾 Activity start

The day begins in the jungle. It's the time when the wildlife is most active: sloths descending, monkeys passing by, birds everywhere. Your French-speaking guide awaits you.

Restaurant Lunch

Married Typical at a local artisan: rice, beans, plantains, vegetables of the day, choice of protein. Authentic encounter, an essential break when the sun is beating down.

2:00 PM

🌴 Second activity

We'll set off again when the heat subsides. Kayaking, bird watching, a visit to a coffee farm, thermal baths, or zip-lining – choose according to the stop.

4:30 PM

🧘 Free time

Lodge return. Pool, spa, reading, hammock, nap. The Essential rhythm always allows for this moment—it's what makes the difference between a well-done trip and a memorable trip.

🦇 Night activity Optional

Night tour in the jungle with a guide: poison dart frogs, caimans, bats, non-venomous snakes, fascinating spiders. A must-do at least once during your stay.

🌌 Dinner & overnight

Dinner at the lodge under the stars. A concert of crickets and frogs as a lullaby. Last thought: the soft rain drumming on the wooden roofs (green season) or the sky saturated with stars (dry season).

The best time to visit Costa Rica is during the dry season, which runs from December to April.

Costa Rica can be visited year-round. This is not a slogan — it's a climate and biological reality.

Its equatorial position (9° north), its lush vegetation year-round, or animal life active 365 days a year, and its two oceans create a country that has no real offseason. Each month has its charm:

• December to April — Dry season: sunny, clear skies, peak tourist season (higher prices, crowds).
• May to August Green Season (Start): Afternoon tropical showers, often bright mornings, explosive nature, milder prices.
• September to November Intense green season on the Pacific side, sunny on the Caribbean side. Ideal period for Tortuguero (turtles laying eggs then hatching).
