Where to park at night

Major roads are in very good condition. A 4x4 is a must For northern Nicoya and Osa, some volcanic trails. River crossings: possible with Xtrem/Family models equipped with a snorkel. A national license is sufficient.

December → April: guaranteed sunshine, ideal for a rooftop tent. May → November: the green season, with tropical showers in the afternoon (often brief) and lush vegetation. September = the cheapest month.
Gas & Living Expenses
Diesel at ~$1.10/L, gasoline at ~$1.20/L. For a typical 10-day road trip: $200–$300 for fuel, $200–$300 for groceries, $30–$60 per site for national parks. The van saves you money $50 per night at least.

What documents do I need to rent a van in Costa Rica?
A valid passport, national driver's license (no international driver's license required), a credit card in the driver's name for the security deposit.
What is the minimum age for a driver?
At least 21 years of age. The additional driver(s) are included for free, ...they simply need to show their license when they check in.
How does the security deposit work?
$800 on hold (not charged) to your credit card on the day of pickup. Fully refunded upon return if the van is returned in good condition. This is a pre-authorization, not a charge.
What payment methods do you accept?
A deposit of 20% is required at the time of booking via credit card or bank transfer. The remaining 80% is due upon arrival: credit card (Visa/Mastercard) or cash (USD/Costa Rican colones).
Traveling with kids and car seats?
The Adventure model is not suitable for children. The other models are: the Comfort model is suitable for children ages 4 and up, and the Xtrem and Family models are suitable for the whole family. Optional baby seat (+$3/day), to be selected in the configurator.
Can you travel with a pet?
Yes, subject to certain conditions. Small dogs only; a higher security deposit applies; specific terms and conditions must be confirmed with our team. Ask us on WhatsApp.
What types of insurance are included?
Mandatory CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and TP (Third-Party Liability) coverage are included in the listed rate. Comprehensive insurance is available as an option for 1.40 euros per day: it covers everything (windows, tires, damage to the undercarriage, etc.).
Cancellation policy?
Cancellation 30+ days in advance: deposit refunded minus a 10% processing fee. 15–29 days: deposit retained. Less than 15 days: 100% retained. Our advice: Purchase trip cancellation insurance through your credit card company or travel insurance provider.
Where can I pick up and return items?
SJO Airport (free, recommended), San José, Liberia (LIR), Jacó, Guapiles, Tamarindo, Uvita, Puerto Viejo. Fees vary: see the configurator. You can pick up at one location and return to another.
What's it like during the rainy season?
It rains every day, but the showers are usually brief (1–2 hours in the late afternoon). The rooftop tent stays dry thanks to its high-quality fabric. The SUV handles the back roads well. September/October = the cheapest and the scenery is beautiful.
