Bohemian paradise surfing

Santa Teresa - village of the Southwestern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, which has been since 2003 one of the most sought-after bohemian surf spots in the world. 5 km beach, consistent waves 365 days/year, international atmosphere (US, Europe, Argentina), farm-to-table restaurants, beach yoga everywhere.

The experience is Surf + Slow Living morning surf Santa Teresa Beach (consistent intermediate vagueness), relaxing afternoons, beach yoga, smoothie bowl break. Bad Country 5 minutes north (quieter), Montezuma 30 mins south (Magical Town with waterfalls). Deserted beaches further afield.

Our on-the-ground advice (DMC has been on site since 2018): Ideally, spend 3–4 nights in Santa Teresa—1 day for a surf lesson, 1 day visiting the Montezuma waterfalls, and 1 day relaxing. Difficult access (5 hours from SJO + ferry). The Sansa flight from SJO to TMU (1 hour, $130) is recommended.
