Sámara Ideal beginner spot. Gentle, regular waves to the right of the beach. Surf schools: C&C Surf School, Choco's Surf School (~$45-60/2h). Quieter and more educational than Tamarindo. Private lessons for children available.
Carrillo Beach = considered by many as the most beautiful beach in Costa Rica. Perfect white sand croissant beach lined with palm trees, 180° views, uncrowded (no hotels directly on the beach = preserved). A 10-minute drive/taxi from Samara. Snorkeling possible.
