At 1,200 m altitude, nestled in the valley of the Río Caldera at the gates of Volcán Barú — the roof of Panama at 3,475 m —, Boquete is the country's tropical antithesis. Here, you put on a sweater in the evening, pick tomatoes and strawberries, and breathe air at 12-22°C year-round. Panamanians call it the 'the land of eternal spring'.

It's also the world capital of Geisha coffee : Hacienda La Esmeralda sold a pound for 10,005 USD at auction in 2023, the absolute record in coffee history. The microclimates between Volcán, Boquete and Renacimiento — at 1,600-1,900 m — produce arabicas that master roasters in Tokyo and Oslo fight over.
