The two signature waterfalls of Jarabacoa. Jimenoa I (60 m) is the most spectacular — access via suspended walkways over a canyon, swimming at the base is permitted. Jimenoa II (40 m) plus accessible and photogenic, famous since Jurassic Park was filmed there. To be combined with Baiguate Waterfall (25 m, accessible by horse).

A 25m waterfall Nestled in the hollow of a black rock canyon, accessible exclusively by horseback or on foot (45 min descent). The horseback riding experience is the most memorable part of the stay: crossing rivers, trails through pine forests, views of the valley. Beginner level accepted, docile horses.

The official trek is listed as 2 days/1 night. The truth is: 3 days/2 nights is much more comfortable. Arriving at the summit early in the morning means clear views and a descent without having to rush.

  • ❌ Pico Duarte without a guide: forbidden by the Bermúdez PN, and dangerous — frequent fog, possible hypothermia at night.
  • ❌ Flip-flops or ballet flats: Muddy paths, slippery rocks at the base of the waterfalls. Sneakers or closed-toe walking shoes are essential.
  • ❌ Constanza round trip from Santo Domingo 4 hours of driving for 4 hours on site — you need to stay at least one night to get the atmosphere.
  • ❌ Underestimating the cold: Travelers arrive in shorts and shiver in the evenings. Fleece is systematic.
